‘Fenians Festival 2026’ - 150th anniversary Catalpa escape

Irish singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke is coming to WA for the ‘Fenians Festival 2026’ in March.

While living with his family in Australia during his teenage years, Declan was given his first guitar in Kyabram, Victoria, by a priest who recognised his love of music. His first album, ‘Since Kyabram’, was released in 2004 and named in recognition of that encouragement of his musical talents. The album reached double platinum sales.

Subsequently he has released albums including ‘Big Bad Beautiful World’ (2007), ‘Declan O’Rourke Live’ (2008), ‘Mag Pai Zai’ (2011), ‘Gold Bars in the Sun’ (2015), ‘In Full Colour’ (2016), ‘Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine’ (2017), and ‘Arrivals’ (2021).

A multi-talented musician, Declan also plays harmonica, acoustic guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano, has opened shows for US singer-songwriter John Prine and played guitar with Snow Patrol, Bic Runga and Paddy Casey. He has toured with Paolo Nutini, Paul Weller, The Cardigans and Nizlopi, among others. His songs have been interpreted and recorded by fellow artists including Josh Groban, Christy Moore, Peter Joback, Eddi Reader and Jacqui Dankworth.

In 2008 and 2009, Declan toured south eastern Australia. The 2009 tour included a sold-out performance at The Basement in Sydney filmed and broadcast by ABC Australia. Declan will perform the headline concert of the ‘Fenians Festival 2026’ at the Quarry Amphitheatre on Saturday, March 28. He will be supported by Fiona Rea.
